National Minimum Standards

This document presents the national standards for general adult services in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and Low Secure Environments.The National Standards for In-patient PICU and Low Secure Services were launched in 2002. The work undertaken by the Practice Development Network facilitated by NAPICU and NELMET played an important part in the development of the standards for Psychiatric Intensive Care. The standards are minimum standards which can be used to benchmark the quality of services.

The Standards will be reviewed as part of the Accreditation programme
